-Gromada WATRA has participated this year to Swieto Stado with proud!
-Święto Stado is an ancient Slavic festival celebrating fertility, the prosperity of livestock, and the unity of the stado—the « herd »—encompassing both the animals and the human community. The ritual marks the beginning of the warm season, a time when life flourishes in the fields and within the home.
-The ceremony begins with a procession: participants move together toward a sacred site—often a grove or an open space—bearing offerings of bread, milk, beer, or flowers. Deities associated with fertility and prosperity are invoked, notably Mokosh, Lada and Jarilo, Dziewanna, as well as the spirits of the hearth and the fields.
-Next comes the blessing of the livestock: the animals are led in a circle or guided between two symbolic fires to protect them from disease and ensure a fertile year. Humans also undergo this purification, passing near the flames or marking themselves with ritual water.
-The community then shares a ritual meal, accompanied by ancient songs celebrating life, growth, and group cohesion. Young people take part in symbolic games linked to love and fertility, reflecting the fact that Święto Stado is also a celebration of social renewal.
-Święto Stado is a rite in which the community, the animals, and the land are united as one, calling for abundance and protection for the year ahead.
